PT Aqua Feed Portfolio Meets GLOBALG.A.P. Requirements

At PT Aqua, we are delighted to mark an important milestone in the continued development of our aquaculture nutrition portfolio: all aquaculture feeds supplied by PT Aqua are now sourced from producers operating in compliance with the applicable GLOBALG.A.P. feed requirements.

For us, this is much more than a certification milestone. It represents another step in our ongoing commitment to ensuring that the products we offer keep pace with the changing requirements of modern aquaculture and, most importantly, the needs of the fish farmers and hatcheries we work with every day.

Why GLOBALG.A.P. matters to aquaculture

Aquaculture continues to evolve, and expectations surrounding feed quality, traceability, responsible sourcing, fish welfare and environmental responsibility are becoming increasingly important throughout the supply chain.

GLOBALG.A.P. is one of the internationally recognised assurance systems helping to establish consistent standards across aquaculture production.

For aquaculture feed, its Compound Feed Manufacturing (CFM) standard covers the manufacturing process from the purchase, handling and storage of raw materials through processing and distribution. It places particular emphasis on areas including feed safety, traceability, responsible sourcing, quality control and transparency.

Importantly for fish farmers, feed forms part of the requirements for GLOBALG.A.P. aquaculture certification. Aquaculture producers operating under the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance framework are required to source their compound feed from appropriately certified manufacturers or recognised feed safety schemes.

This makes the standards achieved by feed manufacturers directly relevant to the certification and assurance requirements faced by farms themselves.

For PT Aqua, ensuring that our feed portfolio can support those requirements is therefore an important part of the service we provide to our customers.

World-class producers, one PT Aqua portfolio

Reaching this point would not be possible without the work and commitment of our feed-producing partners around the world.

We are extremely proud to work alongside Marubeni Nisshin Feed in Japan, Alltech Coppens in Germany, World Feeds in the United Kingdom and Dibaq Aquaculture in Spain.

Each brings its own expertise, research and approach to aquaculture nutrition, allowing PT Aqua to offer specialised feeding solutions across a broad range of species and production stages.

Marubeni Nisshin Feed – Japan

Our partnership with Marubeni Nisshin Feed gives PT Aqua customers access to some of Japan’s most established aquaculture nutrition technology.

Marubeni Nisshin Feed has more than 60 years of experience producing aquafeed in Japan and is a market leader in the Japanese aquafeed sector. Its expertise extends across feeds for numerous marine and freshwater species and from larval production through to grow-out.

Among the best-known products is the Otohime range, which has become an important feed for marine fish larvae and juveniles internationally. Otohime has been developed around high palatability, carefully selected ingredients and particle technology designed to provide effective nutrition while minimising deterioration in water quality.

For PT Aqua, Otohime and the wider specialist feed portfolio from Japan have long been an important part of the nutrition solutions we provide to hatcheries and aquaculture producers around the world.

Alltech Coppens – Germany

Alltech Coppens brings extensive European expertise in aquaculture nutrition, research and feed manufacturing to our portfolio.

Quality and transparency form a central part of the company’s approach, from raw-material sourcing and feed development through to finished production. Its work is supported by aquaculture research and a dedicated quality programme, combining practical nutrition with continued scientific development.

Alltech Coppens maintains a range of internationally recognised certifications, including GLOBALG.A.P., while continuing to develop feeds focused on performance, fish health and responsible aquaculture production.

This combination of research, quality control and practical farm performance makes Alltech Coppens an important partner as PT Aqua continues to develop its feed offering for customers across our markets.

World Feeds – United Kingdom

Our relationship with World Feeds brings another highly specialised area of aquaculture nutrition into the PT Aqua portfolio.

Based in Yorkshire, World Feeds brings together nutritional scientists, marine biologists and technical engineers with a focus on developing innovative aquatic diets and feeding systems.

Through Vita Aqua Feeds, World Feeds has developed specialist feeding solutions for cleaner fish, including lumpfish and wrasse. Its feed blocks and dedicated feeding systems have been developed to improve the practical delivery of nutrition to cleaner fish used within salmon production.

This is a great example of how specialist nutrition can address a very specific challenge within modern aquaculture – combining feed formulation, fish welfare and practical farm management.

Dibaq Aquaculture – Spain

Dibaq Aquaculture adds more than 35 years of aquaculture nutrition experience to the portfolio.

Based in Spain, Dibaq develops aquaculture feeds for more than 20 species and supplies markets internationally. Its approach combines nutrition with fish health and welfare, developing feeds according to species, life stage and production conditions.

The company also operates under both GLOBALG.A.P. and BAP certification frameworks, reflecting the increasing importance of traceability, responsible production, animal welfare and environmental management within aquaculture.

Its experience across Mediterranean and international aquaculture makes Dibaq another important part of PT Aqua’s ability to offer customers high-quality, specialist nutrition across different species and production environments.

Supporting the changing needs of fish farmers

For PT Aqua, achieving this position across our feed portfolio is important because we recognise that our customers’ requirements extend far beyond simply selecting a feed based on nutritional specifications.

Today’s aquaculture producers are increasingly being asked to demonstrate where their feed comes from, how it is manufactured, how ingredients are sourced and how their entire production chain meets recognised quality and sustainability standards.

Those requirements will continue to evolve.

Our responsibility is to evolve with them.

That means continually reviewing the products we represent, working closely with our manufacturing partners and ensuring that the feeds and aquaculture products available through PT Aqua meet the standards expected by today’s market.

We want our customers to have confidence not only in the nutritional performance of the feed they purchase from us, but also in the companies producing it and the systems behind its manufacture.

Continuing to raise the standard

This milestone is therefore something we are extremely proud to celebrate.

We would like to sincerely thank the teams at Marubeni Nisshin Feed, Alltech Coppens, World Feeds and Dibaq Aquaculture for their continued investment in quality, research, responsible production and the future of aquaculture nutrition.

Their work allows PT Aqua to bring together specialist feeds from some of the industry’s leading manufacturers and provide our customers with a portfolio designed around both performance and the requirements of modern aquaculture production.

Ensuring our complete feed portfolio meets GLOBALG.A.P. requirements is another important step – but it is not the end of the journey.

At PT Aqua, we will continue working with our producers and customers to develop our portfolio, respond to changing market requirements and ensure that the products we supply continue to support more efficient, responsible and successful aquaculture production around the world.

Better nutrition. Stronger standards. Supporting the future of aquaculture.
