VIV Select China 2026 concluded in Shanghai on August 21, recording strong growth in exhibition scale, international participation and business matchmaking while strengthening the city’s position as an emerging global hub for livestock trade.
The Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC) hosted the event from August 19–21, which was organised by Globus Events and VNU Europe. With 550 exhibitors from 20 nations and regions, the exhibition spanned 50,000 square meters, a 36.7% increase over the previous year. Digital aquaculture, low-carbon farming, biosafety, and nutrition optimisation were among the solutions offered by exhibitors from Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
20,300 professionals from 113 nations and regions attended, and the number of foreign visitors tripled over the previous year. The rise demonstrated the show’s rising worldwide appeal and its increasing function in bringing Chinese suppliers and customers from around the world together.
A key component of the 2026 edition was innovation. More than 15 businesses showcased solutions such as big-data platforms, intelligent feeding systems, environmental monitoring, and inspection robots at the extended V-AI + Smart Animal Husbandry zone. Developed around the “Blue Granary” concept, a new Aquatic Breeding Zone addressed technology used across the aquaculture chain, such as sustainable feed, disease prevention, recirculating water systems, and environmental monitoring.
The gathering continued to revolve around business matchmaking. While 745 exhibitor representatives and 94 buyers from markets including India, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, and the US were supported via the V-Match program, more than 20 industry associations hosted buyer groups.
“For serious buyers who are looking to expand their operations, V-Match puts you directly in front of the right suppliers, which is exactly what we need,” said Australian buyer Feisal Paruk, Managing Director of ABD Poultry Pty Ltd.
Strong attendance was also seen during the 8th VIV International Summit, where topics covered included robotics and artificial intelligence, massive language models in agriculture, sustainable production, changes in global supply chains, and new markets.
Jeroen van Hooff, President and CEO of Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs, confirmed that the exhibition will expand further in 2027, saying, “We’re already expanding our floor plan to give more exhibitors the chance to showcase their innovation and technology.”
The next VIV Select China will take place from August 17–19, 2027, with organisers aiming to further strengthen Shanghai’s role as a gateway connecting China’s livestock industry with international markets.
