Ace Aquatec has introduced its A-HSU skid-mounted in-water electric trout stunner to the North American market. The system will be unveiled at the Ontario Aquaculture Association Conference on 27 February, 2025, at Fleming College in Lindsay, Canada.
The A-HSU system is designed to enhance welfare standards in fish harvesting. Its skid-mounted design is meant to improve portability for use in various environments, including lakes, ponds, and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). The system complies with the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Agribusiness (OMAFA) welfare regulations.

Capable of processing up to 15 tonnes of trout per hour, the A-HSU stunner uses a controlled electric field to humanely stun fish before slaughter, reducing stress and crowding.
Arlen Taylor, Director of Operations at Cedar Crest, a Canadian farm using the system, highlighted its reliability and welfare benefits. Ben Perry, Head of Sales at Ace Aquatec, emphasized that the system’s launch marks a significant advancement in humane aquaculture practices in North America.
Ace Aquatec has implemented its technology in other regions and now seeks to expand its presence in North America.
