Roger Gilbert
Mr Roger Gilbert was the Secretary General of the International Feed Industry Federation, which he co-founded in in 1987. In that time, he saw the federation rise from humble beginnings, to represent more than 85% of all compound feeds produced globally. He initiated the industry’s NGO representation with Codex Alimentarius and set up one of the first Memorandum of Understandings between an industry and the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation.
Today, Mr Gilbert is the publisher of International Petfood, International Aquafeed and Milling & Grain magazine: three international magazines translated into several languages to promote aqua and terrestrial protein production.
Dr Dinesh Kaippilly
Dr. Dinesh Kaippilly is a recipient of World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Fellow Award as on 2018; the second Indian to receive this prestigious award after (Late) Dr. MC Nandeesha. He served as the Director of WAS Asian Pacific Chapter from 2016-18. Dinesh has a professional experience of more than 25 years in aquaculture in various institutions including teaching experience of about 22 years in College of Fisheries and KUFOS. He has played a pivotal role in popularising Vannamei shrimp culture in Kerala by training hundreds of shrimp farmers all over the State. He propagated the concept of organic shrimp culture among the farming community with the support of COOP, Switzerland. He has been demonstrating high academic standards throughout his career driven by passion and excellence. There are more than 60 publications of various sorts to his credit including 25 journal papers, 3 books and 6 popular articles.
Dr Ram Bhujel
Ram C Bhujel began his career as Research Associate in 1995 and since 2005, he has been teaching and supervising MSc & PhD students. In 1994 he completed his MSc before achieving his PhD from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand in 1999, where he serves as Research Associate Professor and Founding Director of Aqua-Centre. Then in 2000-2001, he was a post-doc visiting fellow at the University of Stirling, UK and at the University of Montpellier III, France in 2012. Currently, Dr Bhujel also serves as Team Leader/Coordinator for an EU funded project to develop MSc curricula for ‘Sustainable Seafood and Nutrition Security’.
Amorn Luengnaruemitchai
The second generation of family business owners have been in the aquaculture business since 1968. We are involved in the whole Tilapia supply chain starting from breeding programs, large tilapia hatchery, feed distribution to supplying premium tilapia fillet to market. I devote my time and resources to develop sustainable tilapia farming to be an affordable protein source for everyone. To see the sustainable growth and success of tilapia farmer s and tilapia industry is truly my passion.
Dr Manoj Sharma
Dr Manoj Sharma is a shrimp farmer and an aquaculture expert by profession having 30 years of experience in shrimp farming. Dr Manoj has played a major role in the development of the shrimp farming in the coastal regions of Gujarat, India and a key role in the development of the Gujarat Aquaculture Association where all the shrimp farmers have united under one umbrella practicing shrimp farming. His works have been appreciated across many national and international platforms and he has been invited as a speaker across many programs. Dr Manoj is an Industry Impact Award winner for creating a technical foundation for the shrimp industry in South Gujarat which gave opportunities to coastal rural people and fishermen. He is also a national awardee recipient from National Fisheries Development Board, Government of India for ‘Best Technology Infusion/ Innovative Idea’.
Rizky Darmawan
Rizky Darmawan is the CEO of Delta Marine Group, a pioneering aquaculture company specializing in sustainable shrimp production, distribution, and processing. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Aquatic and Fisheries Sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle, Rizky combines education with innovation to reshape the shrimp industry.
As the President of Petambak Muda Indonesia since its inception in 2015, Rizky Darmawan is dedicated to educating and fostering solidarity among young aquaculturists. His leadership shines through the annual “Shrimp Aquaculture Conference” in Bali, a cornerstone event for knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the field.
Rizky’s impact extends globally through speaking engagements at prominent conferences. Notably, he is driving sustainability initiatives within the shrimp industry, exploring eco-friendly approaches to farming practices and harnessing shrimp wastes such as chitin to be processed further for various applications. With a dynamic role in Shrimp Club Indonesia and active participation in APINDO, Rizky is committed to elevating the aquaculture community and championing sustainable practices.
Grin Swangdacharak
Grin Swangdacharuk hold a Master’s degree in Aquaculture from Kasetsart University, Thailand. Grin has working in aquaculture technical marketing position for over a decade. His experience on technical service has been contribute through wide variety region from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, India to Ecuador. He has been joining Kemin AquaScience™ since 2020. Now, he’s leading technical marketing of Kemin AquaScience™ WW. To fight against global climate situation, aquafeed industry is moving toward sustainable production. This is including introducing of alternative ingredient, maximize feed processing efficiency, close monitoring of resource utilization, reduction of waste & reuse of by-product and promotion of responsible activities toward environment. With Kemin AquaScience™, we are also taking part of sustainable aquafeed production in various aspect. Through Kemin millSMART program for reducing carbon releasing during aquafeed product, enhancing efficiency of feed milling process, reduction of waste and reprocess material and introduction of sustainable and responsible ingredient to Aquafeed industries. We have been worked closely with our global partner to improve sustainability in aquafeed product and promoting new technology for better of our world.
Dr Romi Novriadi
Dr Romi Novriadi is the Senior Lecturer at the Jakarta Technical University of Fisheries or known as Politeknik Ahli Usaha Perikanan, Agency for Marine Affairs and Fisheries Research and Development, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Republic of Indonesia. He has published more than 35 peer review research articles which include Aquaculture nutrition, shrimp and fish farming, functional feed, immunology, aquaculture technology and diseases management. Dr Romi was awarded two scholarships, the VLIR-UOS scholarship to pursue his Master of Science in Aquaculture at Ghent University–Belgium and the Fulbright scholarship to pursue his Ph. D in Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture at the Auburn University, Alabama, USA. Currently, Dr Romi focus on the development of intensive shrimp farming system and economical aqua-feed, evaluation of nutritional requirements for shrimp and fish as well as facilitate the evaluation of novel ingredients and feed supplemental properties to enhance the growth and health status of aquatic organisms.
Fabrizio Caruso
Fabrizio Caruso attended University of Bologna (Italy) where He received hisBachelor degree in Aquaculture and Fish Products hygiene in 2016, then he moved to Spain where He obtained the Post Graduate specialisation degree from the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) of Saragoza in 2017 and a Master Degree in Marine Aquaculture from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. In the period from 2018 to 2022 he worked as an independent researcher and consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and for aquaculture and fisheries private research centres and producers’ associations.He is reviewer of scientific papers for two international peer-reviewed magazines and co-author several publications including peer-review articles, books and dissemination articles in specialised magazines. Since 2023 he is Aquaculture Technical Specialist at Vetagro S.p.a. developing the aquaculture data and product portfolio of feed additives.
Dr Holger Kühlwein
Dr. Holger Kühlwein is Key Account Manager Aquaculture at Leiber GmbH, Germany, a manufacturer of brewers’ yeast products for animal nutrition and life sciences. His responsibilities comprise of sales to and support of aquaculture key customers and distributors globally, the strategic planning of scientific studies, and marketing activities. He collaborates with feed and premix producers, farmers and scientific institutions. Dr. Holger is a trained fish farmer and holds a BSc and a graduate engineering degree in agriculture from the Technical University Munich. He furthermore obtained a PhD in Biology from the University of Plymouth for his work on yeast ß-glucan effects in cyprinids.
Pradeep Jayaprasad
Dr. Pradeep is the Asia Pacific regional coordinator of Leiber GmbH, Germany. His primary responsibilities include the support of distribution partners on sites and the strategic planning for technical and marketing activities of Leiber products for Animal Nutrition in Asia, Australia and Oceania. Dr. Pradeep has a wealth of experience, predominantly in the field of aquaculture. He hold his PhD from Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries, Malaysia. Before joining Leiber GmbH, he focused on his scientific carriers in research projects involved with several universities and faculties around various South East & South Asian regions. He was involved with scientific projects related to aquaculture including; Specific pathogen free aquatic animals (Mahidol University, Thailand), Genetic manipulation in Tilapia (University Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia), Commercial aquaculture production & Disease management (In Collaboration with Centex Shrimp, Shrimp Genetic Improvement Center & Prince Songhkla University, Thailand). Moreover, he was also involved with projects related to medical research on karyotyping, stem cells of dental and cancer origin and other molecular studies at University Malaya, Malaysia. He made valuable contributions to the scientific community through his publications in peer-reviewed journals, patents and also through his books and professional magazines article.
Clara Trullàs
Dr Clara Trullàs is the Product Manager of Aquaculture in Tanin Sevnica, Slovenia. She holds a Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), a MSc in Aquaculture from Universitat de Barcelona and a PhD in Animal Production from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She was also granted a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) in 2016, where she started working in the field of natural feed additives for aqua feeds. Her current role aims to research, develop, and promote the optimal use of phytobiotics as feed additives and ammonia binders in fish and shrimp aquaculture. She works alongside researchers, feed millers and producers, to target the industry needs with a holistic approach.
Kabir Chowdhury
Kabir Chowdhury lead the aquaculture program of a Canadian non-medicated feed additive supplier for twelve years after completing his PhD in Animal Nutrition from University of Guelph, Canada.
In 30+ years experience in aquaculture and animal nutrition, he published more than 100 scientific and popular communications in major outlets and co-authored a book on environmental assessment for coastal aquaculture. He also presented research findings in major conferences around the world. Recently, he is appointed Senior Editor for a Taylor & Francis journal, Critical Insights in Aquaculture, where he is involved in curation and dissemination of essential aquaculture research.
In 2011, he founded Professional Aquaculture Nutritionists, a LinkedIn based global networking group that has grown to more than 8000 members from 110+ countries.
Recently, he founded Maverick Innovation, state-of-the-art animal research facility in Bangladesh. Maverick is pioneering nutrition research on sustainable practices in poultry and aquaculture, harmonizing productivity with commitment to the environment.
Abung Maruli
Abung Maruli is a Technical Expert Manager for Aquaculture Greater Asia Pacific at dsm-firmenich. He holds an MSc in Aquaculture Science from Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. Started his career in aquaculture industry as a research asisstant for shrimp farming in the floating net cages. For the past 9 years, Abung has been heavily involved to develop aquaculture business, focusing on feed additive products and application, health management of commercial fish and shrimp farms.
Matthew R. P. Briggs
Matthew Briggs has 42 years of experience in shrimp culture. This includes management of commercial shrimp farming operations in Ecuador, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia – including nutrition, breeding programmes, maturation, hatchery and grow-out. Project management, research, sales, technical support, training and consultancy experience in many countries.With a PhD in shrimp nutrition and nursery culture, Briggs has made many relevant contributions to the industry and/or the scientific community, holding a strong background in aquaculture science, nutrition, sustainability and best management practices with particular emphasis on research, presentation and teaching skills. Briggs now works for Ridley AgriProducts Pty Ltd as the NovaqPro Solutions Manager.
Pau Badia
Pau Badia is an animal biologist from Barcelona with an international Master’s degree in Thailand in aquaculture and fisheries. With over a decade of experience in Thailand and Southeast Asia, he has developed an in-depth understanding of the seafood sector, specializing in sustainability and welfare improvements.
As the director of Creative Labs Asia, Pau leads initiatives that support companies, NGOs, and governments in achieving their sustainability goals in aquaculture and agriculture. Over the past six years, he has focused on fish welfare, collaborating with international organizations, industry leaders, and research institutions to develop best practices. Currently, he is implementing a project to enhance the welfare of tilapia and white leg shrimp in Thailand and Vietnam, working closely with key stakeholders to drive industry-wide improvements.
Dr Edwin Chow
Dr. Edwin received his undergraduate and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Currently, as the Global Aqua Species Manager as well as Regional Commercial & Technical Manager at Berg+Schmidt, Dr. Edwin spearheads the global aqua research for product development and technical solutions as well as leading the aquaculture business for Asia and Middle East. Prior to joining Berg+Schmidt, Dr. Edwin worked for several animal and food industry leaders gaining extensive experiences in ingredients, formulation, nutrition, feed and food quality and safety, in particular, he brings with him more than 15 years of rich experiences in the animal and aquaculture industry with knowledge of business administration, feed formulation, feed mill and farm operations. Dr Edwin is also a adjunct professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology from the National University of Singapore (NUS). His numerous publications/patents, given oral presentations at scientific meetings and industry events and awards underscore his commitment to both animal and human nutrition’s advancement.
Dr May Myat Noe Lwin
Dr. May Myat Noe Lwin @ Noe Noe works as a regional Sales Director -Southeast Asia and South Asia for the Aller Aqua Group (Danish group). She received her Ph.D. in Aquatic Animal Nutrition from Auburn University in the U.S.
She worked for both private companies and aquaculture projects funded by NORAD, USAID, GIZ , U.S Soybean Export Council as their consultants in the Myanmar and Southeast Asia region. She is the founder of Dr. Noe Noe’s scholarship. This scholarship supports underprivileged Myanmar students to study at Yangon University’s Fisheries and Aquaculture Department and Pathien University’s Marine Science Department in Myanmar.
