CFEED, a Norwegian company specialising in copepod production for marine larvae, has revealed plans to expand its production facility in Vanvikan, Norway. The expansion, supported by a significant investment in advanced technology, will increase production capacity and improve operational efficiency. The new facility is expected to open on August 20, 2025, after construction is completed in early August.
The expansion will make CFEED the largest controlled-environment copepod production facility globally. It aims to strengthen the company’s position as a leading producer of hatchery-stage feed for marine fish larvae and generate new job opportunities for the local community.
Tore Remman, CEO of CFEED, stated that the expansion would help the company scale its operations while maintaining sustainability and efficiency. “This project ensures we have a scalable production facility to meet growing demand and support our long-term vision as a global leader in sustainable aquafeed solutions,” Remman said.
CFEED, which has experienced organic growth over the past few years, produces Acartia tonsa copepods for various species, including sea bream, cod, grouper, and tuna. The company made the strategic decision to expand two years ago in response to rising demand for its products. Linn Baardsgaard, Sales & Marketing Director, emphasized that the expansion would allow CFEED to serve its growing customer base and explore new markets.
A grand opening event is planned for August 20, 2025, where attendees will be invited to tour the new facility and learn more about CFEED’s developments in the aquafeed sector.
