Cooke Inc., a leading global seafood company based in Saint John, New Brunswick, has officially completed its acquisition of Corporación Pesquera Inca S.A.C. (Copeinca), Peru’s largest fishing company.
The acquisition, first announced on 7 November, enhances Cooke’s position in the marine ingredients sector and expands its global operations.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Copeinca, established in 1994, is a major player in the anchoveta fishing and processing industry, recognised as one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of fishmeal and fish oil. This acquisition allows Cooke to further diversify its portfolio, both geographically and in terms of species, contributing to the company’s long-term growth in the sustainable seafood sector.
“We’re excited to welcome Copeinca’s dedicated employees to the Cooke family,” said Glenn Cooke, CEO of Cooke Inc. “Copeinca will be a significant asset as we continue to strengthen global food security and grow our marine ingredients business.”
The acquisition marks a major milestone in Cooke’s expansion strategy, following its entry into the marine ingredients sector in 2017 with the purchase of Omega Protein Corporation, a US-based company known for its specialty oils and protein products. The addition of Copeinca’s operations solidifies Cooke’s leadership in this growing market.
With the addition of Copeinca, Cooke now operates in 15 countries and employs over 15,000 people.
