Dibaq Aquaculture, a Spanish family-owned company focused on the nutrition, health and welfare of fish and crustaceans, has achieved Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to the aquaculture industry. With 40 years of sector experience, the company operates in more than 50 countries across four continents.
ASC is an independent organisation that oversees a certification programme promoting responsible aquaculture practices. Its standards cover areas including social and labour rights, employee health and safety, environmental management, and the sustainable sourcing of raw materials used in production. The certification is designed to support responsible and sustainable aquaculture while improving traceability and reducing environmental impact.
To secure certification, Dibaq worked with independent auditor DNV to review compliance with strict environmental, social and labour requirements. The company said the process also strengthened risk management and sustainability across its aquaculture supply chain.
Efforts were focused on integrating these standards into management systems across all territories, helping to ensure consistent implementation between global and local teams. According to Dibaq, the move reflects customer demand for environmentally responsible production alongside strong biological and economic farm performance.
The company said obtaining ASC certification marks an important step in its strategy to supply feed solutions that meet ASC standards in key markets, as sustainable production becomes increasingly essential across the sector.
Dibaq added that it is currently the only European company certified under GLOBALG.A.P., Best Aquaculture Practices and CIPA, with ASC now added to its portfolio of certifications supporting the national and international aquaculture industry.
