From Intuition to Intelligence: AI Reshaping Aquaculture Farming

According to Ragnhild Dragøy, CEO of CageEye, farmers frequently use inadequate technologies to analyse fish activity. “Near-term opportunities for AI lie in structuring and analysing all available data sources to give a clear, objective picture of what’s happening in the pen.” By integrating signals such as behaviour patterns, oxygen levels, and water conditions, AI systems can support more consistent and informed feeding decisions.
Scaling these technologies necessitates overcoming operational realities, despite increased enthusiasm. Systems must be dependable, simple to incorporate into farm operations, and able to transform massive amounts of data into understandable, practical insights for farmers.
