Garware Technical Fibres has completed ten years in the Chilean salmon farming market, where it has provided products designed to meet local industry needs. Since entering the market in 2014, Garware has established a presence by offering solutions such as predator nets and mooring ropes.

Garware faced challenges in gaining market recognition during its early years. The company worked with major producers like Mowi and Camanchaca to conduct product trials and build trust with local salmon farming companies. “The initial challenge was gaining support for product trials,” said Marcos Jofré, Business Associate at Garware.
The company adapted its products to the specific requirements of the Chilean market, addressing issues like predators, fouling, and the ectoparasite Caligus rogercresseyi. Garware also adjusted to the local regulatory environment and farming conditions.
Looking forward, Garware plans to address challenges related to regulatory changes, sustainability, and fish health protection. Francisco Serra, Commercial Manager for Garware in Chile, noted the company’s focus on innovation and corporate social responsibility, including efforts in partnership with SalmonChile.
Garware operates in 75 countries and considers aquaculture its primary business area. The company has ongoing product developments set to be released soon.
