GEPRO is celebrating 60 years of transforming poultry processing by-products into high-quality proteins and fats. Founded in 1965 in Lohne, the company, part of the PHW Group, has established itself as a leader in the development, production, and distribution of premium poultry ingredients for petfood and aquafeed industries.
With approximately 90 employees and headquarters in Diepholz, GEPRO is committed to sustainability, as reflected in their motto, “We go beyond.” The company efficiently utilises poultry by-products—such as meat scraps, blood, feathers, and bones—that are unsuitable for human consumption. This innovative approach not only creates valuable products but also reduces waste, as the only by-products are water and organic sewage sludge, which is repurposed into energy at biogas plants.
As a family-owned enterprise, the PHW Group has become a key player in Germany’s agriculture and food sector. GEPRO is integral to this ecosystem, ensuring that all parts of the poultry are used effectively. With a focus on modernising their processes, GEPRO employs cutting-edge technologies like spray drying and low-temperature production to create easily digestible proteins and fats.
Emphasising animal welfare, GEPRO introduced the “Donau Pro Nature” line, made exclusively from chickens raised under higher welfare standards. In a significant partnership forged in 2023, GEPRO became the first company in Germany to be certified for supplying raw materials that meet the QS pet food process chain’s animal welfare initiatives.
Today, GEPRO’s products are exported worldwide, supported by a strategic network of sales offices in Eastern Europe and Asia, as well as a logistics centre in Bremen. This foundation has positioned GEPRO as a leading supplier in the global market for high-quality poultry protein products.
