Insectika Biotech has introduced a new insect protein-based feed for Asian seabass (barramundi) and aquarium fish in collaboration with ICAR-CIBA. The product, developed after two years of research and trials, was unveiled at the Shrimp Farmers Conclave 2025 in Odisha, in front of over 500 aqua farmers, hatchery owners, and government delegates.

The new feed, YuM ToM for aquarium fish and Yum Pro for Asian seabass, is made from black soldier fly larvae protein. It is designed to support optimal growth and health for the fish, with benefits including improved digestibility, palatability, and overall fish welfare. Additionally, the feed reduces reliance on traditional protein sources linked to environmental issues like deforestation and overfishing, providing a more eco-friendly alternative.
Dr. Kamlesh Mishra, Director of Sales and Marketing at Insectika, emphasized the importance of collaboration for sustainability. He stated that the partnership with ICAR-CIBA aligns with the goal of advancing circularity in feed production.
Dr. JK Jena, Deputy Director General of ICAR, also highlighted the role of insect protein in addressing the growing demand for nutritious protein while reducing ecological damage. ICAR-CIBA’s team expressed support for Insectika’s efforts, noting the potential for scalable, sustainable solutions in aquaculture.
Insectika’s new feed products have been approved for use in India.
