Job Opening: Sales Support / Business Development – Marine Aquaculture

Planktonic AS · Full-time · Based in Italy or France (Remote)

Planktonic AS is seeking a motivated professional to join its growing international team on a full-time, remote basis in Italy or France. The company develops and supplies innovative live feed solutions for marine hatcheries and works with leading hatcheries across Europe and beyond. As Planktonic continues to grow, it is looking for an ambitious, commercially minded individual to support existing customers and help develop new business opportunities.

The role

We are looking for an ambitious, commercially minded professional with a good understanding of aquaculture – ideally marine fish hatcheries – who enjoys working closely with customers, solving problems and developing new business opportunities.

You will be part of a fast-growing international company, working closely with both existing and prospective customers and supported by our commercial, technical and management teams.

The role is flexible and can be shaped around the right candidate and their experience, with scope to take on increasing responsibility as the company grows.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting existing customers and those scaling up their use of our products
  • Building strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Understanding customer needs and identifying practical solutions
  • Providing day-to-day technical and commercial support
  • Supporting trials and guiding customers from initial application towards wider adoption
  • Identifying and developing new markets and customer opportunities
  • Meeting prospective clients and representing Planktonic at industry events and conferences
  • Working closely with our commercial, technical and management teams
  • Feeding market and customer insights into product and commercial planning

Location and travel

Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in Italy or France, although another European Mediterranean country could also be considered. When not travelling, the role will primarily be home-based.

Travel is extensive and seasonal. During peak periods, the role may involve up to approximately three weeks of travel per month; outside the main season, travel is significantly lower. Travel will mainly be across Europe, with occasional trips further afield.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • A good understanding of aquaculture, preferably marine fish hatcheries
  • Ideally, five or more years of commercial or sales experience
  • Fluency in English and Italian
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously
  • Technical curiosity, with the ability to understand a problem and develop a solution
  • The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively when required

Desirable

  • French or another Mediterranean language
  • A relevant academic background in biology, aquaculture, marine science or a similar discipline
  • An established network within aquaculture, particularly the marine fish hatchery sector
  • Experience introducing technical products to new markets

Personal qualities

Character matters just as much as experience. We are looking for someone who is honest, reliable, collaborative, curious and positive, with the personality to become an important part of our team and the ambition to build new business.

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation reflecting experience
  • Flexibility in how and where you work
  • An international role with real ownership and visibility
  • The opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the company grows
  • The opportunity to join a young, ambitious and innovative team that is changing how marine hatcheries approach live feed

How to apply

Send your CV and a short introduction to catarina.lataes@planktonic.no. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will remain open until the right candidate is found.
