Experts, scientists, and industry leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean will converge in Puerto Varas, Chile, for LACQUA25, the annual meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS).
Scheduled for October 7-9, 2025, this significant event marks the first time the WAS will hold a meeting in Chile, focusing on governance and sustainability in aquaculture amid the challenges of climate change.
The Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (LACC-WAS) is organising the conference in collaboration with the Institute of Aquaculture and Environment at Universidad Austral de Chile (Puerto Montt Campus) and INTESAL (Technological Institute of Salmon).
Luis Andrés González Agraz, President of LACC, expressed his enthusiasm: “As Chapter President, I am pleased to warmly invite you to our upcoming regional conference in Puerto Varas, Chile, this October. The program will feature two keynote lectures by prominent researchers, six technical workshops, and 18 thematic sessions focused on regional interests, alongside a trade show and recreational activities, including local food tastings and a guided tour of Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.
Sandra Marín Arribas, an academic at ACUIAM and member of the Scientific and Organizing Committee, emphasized the goals of the conference: “We hope to see active participation from academics, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, and producers who are eager to learn about the latest advancements in aquaculture science, technology, and innovation.”
