Laxey has awarded a €20 million (£16.5 million) contract to AKVA Group for equipment related to its land-based salmon farm project in Iceland. AKVA confirmed the contract, which involves providing equipment for a growout facility for Atlantic salmon, through an announcement on the Oslo Børs.
The contract’s execution is contingent on Laxey securing financing, which it expects to finalise by March 2025. The announcement follows Laxey’s earlier agreement with BAADER for processing equipment for the same facility.
Laxey, originally planning a 10,000-metric-tonne salmon farm, has since expanded its plans to a 32,000-metric-tonne flow-through facility in Iceland’s Westman Islands. This is not the first collaboration between Laxey and AKVA; the two companies began working together in 2022 on Iceland’s first RAS facility for Atlantic salmon smolt.
Laxey has already secured significant investment, including €40 million (£33 million) in April 2024 from Blue Future Holding, adding to €42 million (£35 million) raised in September 2023.
