With over three decades of experience in aquatic biotechnology, Joe McDonald brings a unique blend of technical expertise and commercial insight. From building and managing marine hatcheries for species such as turbot and cod, to serving in leadership roles within the UK aquaculture sector, McDonald has helped shape industry best practices. Now at the helm of Varicon Aqua, he leads one of the most prominent photobioreactor (PBR) technology firms in the global algae sector. A member of Algae UK and the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA), McDonald will offer key insights on how innovation in algal technology can drive sustainable growth in aquaculture.
Soparat Bamrungsak
Business Development Manager and Senior Auditor – Control Union Thailand

A recognized leader in certification and responsible sourcing, Soparat Bamrungsak brings over 13 years of experience across Thailand, South Korea, and the wider Asia-Pacific. Her work has been pivotal in aligning the aquaculture sector with major international standards, including ASC, BAP, MSC Chain of Custody, and SA8000. Her presentation, titled “Strengthening Sustainable Aquaculture Supply Chains Through Certification,” will explore how global benchmarking frameworks are elevating ESG performance and unlocking new export opportunities.
Ing-Jer Huang
ASE chair professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan

Ing-Jer Huang is an ASE chair professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. His research areas include computer architecture, embedded systems, IC design, artificial intelligence and internet-of-things. Many of his work have been licensed to IC related companies. He’s also contributed to socially impactful efforts, such as smart aquaculture farming systems, wearable tech for elder care, and a TV documentary series in computer technologies. His interdisciplinary enthusiasm has received technical awards such as National Invention Award 2014, FutureTech Awards 2018/2021, National Innovation Award 2022/2023, and APICTA Award 2023, and even a Houston International Film Festival Award, 2019.

Jenny Ou
Managing Director – Sankina Aquaculture
With a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan (USA) and a Master’s from McGill University (Canada), her academic foundation supports practical expertise. As the Director of Sankina Aquaculture Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s first ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certified farm, they drive initiatives reshaping the industry landscape. Their hands-on approach ensures quality food production while safeguarding marine ecosystems. Leveraging innovative farming techniques, Sankina pioneers a future where responsible food production harmonizes with ecological preservation, at the heart of aquaculture farming
