Phibro Launches Low-carbon Aquafeed Solutions

Phibro Animal Health Corporation has launched its new Sustainable Solutions Platform (SSP), a company-wide initiative aimed at helping animal protein, dairy, pet food and aquaculture producers reduce greenhouse gas emissions through science-based solutions that integrate into existing feed and production systems.

According to the World Benchmarking Alliance, 165 of the world’s 350 largest food and agriculture companies have disclosed Scope 3 climate commitments, many targeting 20–30% reductions in value-chain emissions by 2030.

Feed remains one of the largest contributors to Scope 3 emissions in livestock, poultry and aquaculture production. Phibro said its approach focuses on low-carbon alternative nutrient sources to address emissions within feed supply chains.

As part of the SSP launch, the company introduced Verratain Verified Sustainability Solutions, its first master brand dedicated to sustainable products designed to lower emissions across animal protein and pet food supply chains. The initial product line is being developed through a partnership with VAXA Technologies and is based on low-carbon microalgae feed materials.

The first products launched under the Verratain brand are Verratain Spirulina and Verratain Omega Oil, both intended for use as low-carbon nutritional ingredients in animal and aquaculture feed. Phibro said the products can help reduce the carbon intensity of feed while supporting animal health and sustainability targets.

Dani Bendheim, incoming Chief Executive Officer of Phibro Animal Health Corporation, said the Verratain range reflects growing demand for scalable and credible sustainability solutions across animal protein and aquafeed sectors. He added that the products complement the company’s existing animal health and nutrition portfolio while supporting the sustainability objectives of producers and downstream customers.

Phibro expects initial sales of the Verratain products to begin in the coming months, offering producers an opportunity to integrate low-carbon microalgae ingredients into their feed and production systems.
