Salmofood restructures feed technology division, appoints new manager

Vitapro Chile has announced a strategic restructuring of its Feed Technology division, aimed at strengthening its position in sustainable aquaculture nutrition. The company has appointed Paulo Alarcón as feed technology manager, succeeding Sergio Castillo, who will take on new responsibilities in Ecuador’s shrimp industry.

Paulo Alarcón, with over 20 years of experience in aquaculture and animal nutrition, brings a fresh perspective to the division. His appointment is seen as a step toward maintaining the company’s leadership in developing high-performance, sustainable diets. Alarcón’s background includes roles in technical assistance, nutrition, and research and development, as well as experience at international institutions like Canada’s Marine Biosciences Institute and Norway’s Akvaforsk (now Nofima).

Ramiro Larios, country manager of Vitapro Chile, emphasized that Alarcón’s expertise in supply chain management would help ensure efficient and sustainable formulations aligned with market demands.

Sergio Castillo, the outgoing manager, will now oversee the feed technology division for the shrimp industry in Ecuador. Pablo Leyton, Vitapro’s global feed technology director, will relocate to Ecuador to manage both salmon and shrimp operations globally. The restructuring aims to further enhance Vitapro’s capacity for innovation and to meet global market needs, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability in the aquaculture sector.
