The Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) and the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) will play key roles at the upcoming Shrimp Summit hosted by The Centre for Responsible Seafood (TCRS) in Bali from 23 to 25 June 2025.
Ahead of the summit, GDST and Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) will hold a seafood traceability workshop on 22 June at the Grand Hyatt Bali. The workshop will introduce new traceability technologies and engage stakeholders across fish and shrimp processing. It will also showcase the integration of GDST standards into Indonesia’s Stelina traceability platform, beginning with tuna and shrimp plants.
GDST Executive Director Huw Thomas will join a panel on digital technologies during the summit, contributing insights on traceability and data interoperability in seafood supply chains.
GSSI CEO Øyvind Ihle will take part in the summit’s shrimp welfare session, presenting findings from a GSSI-led gap analysis of aquaculture health and welfare standards, regulations, and sourcing policies.
Both GDST and GSSI aim to advance industry alignment on data standards and responsible sourcing, aligning with growing regulatory and market demands for transparency and animal welfare in aquaculture.
The summit is hosted by TCRS, a nonprofit working on solutions in aquaculture through collaboration, research, and educational programmes.
