Seagriculture EU 2025, an international seaweed industry conference, will take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, from 17 to 19 June. The event will focus on scaling and professionalising the seaweed sector under the theme “Seaweed 2.0: Today’s Scaling for Tomorrow’s Needs.”
The conference will bring together stakeholders from across the seaweed value chain, including producers, processors, researchers, investors, and policymakers. Organisers expect more than 250 delegates from over 30 countries.
The event begins with two site visits on 17 June. Participants may tour either Hortimare in Heerhugowaard to view cultivation systems and breeding methods or the NIOZ seaweed research facilities in Yerseke. The NIOZ visit includes a scientific meeting co-hosted by Dutch aquatic food production projects.
The main conference program runs 18–19 June and includes five plenary sessions, two panel discussions, and a series of short presentations. Speakers include Alan T Critchley, Dr Stefan Kraan, Rita Sousa, Pierre Paslier, and Juliet Brodie. Organisations represented include TotalEnergies Corbion, Rabobank, Necton, and the FAO.
A trade show will run alongside the sessions, allowing businesses to display products and services. Additional networking opportunities include a conference dinner.
The Province of South Holland and the Municipality of Rotterdam are sponsoring the event. Meindert Stolk, Regional Minister, noted the region’s role in advancing sustainable industry and innovation.
