Skretting Spain becomes first ASC-Certified aquafeed mill in the EU

Skretting Spain has become the first aquafeed manufacturer in the European Union to receive the ASC Feed Standard certification. This recognition follows similar achievements by Skretting’s operations globally, including recent certifications in Japan, Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Canada, and Norway.

The ASC Feed Standard certification, awarded after a rigorous audit process, ensures that Skretting’s feeds meet sustainable and responsible production criteria. Skretting Japan’s Imari plant was the first in the country to earn this certification, and Skretting Chile’s Osorno plant was the first to receive it globally in early 2024.

Skretting’s sustainability director, Jorge Diaz, noted that seven of the company’s facilities have achieved the ASC certification in the past year. The company is preparing to certify additional plants as part of its efforts to help farmers maintain their ASC Farm certifications before the deadline in October 2025.

The certification is seen as a step forward in improving transparency and accountability in the feed industry, particularly concerning the environmental and social risks involved in production. According to Elena Subiñas, quality director of Skretting Spain, the ASC certification benefits not only the company but also customers, providing assurance of responsible and sustainable practices in the production of aquafeed.
