Susanna Airaksinen has returned to Alltech Fennoaqua as the new Development Manager after a brief hiatus. Airaksinen, with extensive experience in the field, is responsible for overseeing feed development, working closely with Fennoaqua experts.
Airaksinen aims to enhance the use of Fennoaqua’s global networks and research in feed development. She emphasizes the importance of understanding fish nutritional needs, health, and well-being as central to her work. “Understanding the physiological processes in fish sets the boundaries for development,” she stated.

Airaksinen, who previously worked at Raisio from 2015 to 2022, values the dynamic and collaborative environment at Fennoaqua. She highlights the importance of working with fish farmers to address their unique challenges and needs in feed and policy development.
With a background in fish nutrition, Airaksinen is also focused on how the fish farming sector can contribute to sustainability and food production issues, particularly in the face of climate change. Airaksinen’s career in fish welfare and nutrition spans more than two decades, including work at the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute and research projects in locations from Greenland to Antarctica.
