World Aquaculture Conference 2025 will take place in India instead of China

World Aquaculture Society (WAS) has announced the relocation of its 2025 conference, initially scheduled for Qingdao, China, to Hyderabad, India. The event, originally set for 24-27 April, will now take place from 10-13 November, 2025, under the new name World Aquaculture 2025 INDIA.

The decision to cancel the event in China was made by the China Fisheries Society after a thorough review of current circumstances. WAS confirmed the relocation to Hyderabad in response, citing the city’s growing role in India’s marine and aquaculture industries.

The conference will be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre – Novotel, marking the return of World Aquaculture to India following the successful Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019 event in Chennai. WAS highlighted the rapid growth of aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in India, making the location another ideal choice for the 2025 gathering.

WAS reassured attendees that abstracts previously submitted for the event in China would continue to be processed, and all registrations would remain valid. The deadline for abstract submissions has been extended to 31 August, 2025. Exhibitors who had reserved booths for the original location will receive updated information regarding their participation in the event.

The WAS apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change and expressed gratitude for the continued support from attendees, exhibitors, and partners.
