Ace Aquatec and Aquascot have announced a partnership to improve fish processing by integrating artificial intelligence and advanced imaging technology. Backed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise funding, the 12-month project focuses on collecting real-time data on Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout to streamline operations.
Ace Aquatec, renowned for its innovations in aquaculture, will employ AI-driven cameras to monitor fish non-invasively. This technology aims to measure vital quality metrics, including individual fish weights and condition factors. The system is expected to enhance efficiency and improve yield forecasts by automating quality checks and reducing manual handling. Additionally, biometric data will be linked to individual fish at harvest, boosting traceability.
The collaboration also stands to benefit Waitrose and Partners, one of Aquascot’s main retail partners, as they seek suppliers who embrace cutting-edge technology. The initiative promises greater transparency and consistent quality for consumers looking for responsibly sourced seafood.
