Garware unveils next-gen aquaculture nets to boost sustainability

Garware’s CFR net is part of the company’s new generation of nets. It offers excellent cut resistance and high mesh rigidity for enhanced safety, with its S.CFR version being 100% recyclable.

CFR, a composite-core net designed to provide consistent shape, increased strength, and less weight, is one of its most recent developments. The design increases durability and safety at farming sites by providing high mesh stiffness and outstanding cut resistance. S.CFR, its sustainable equivalent, offers the same performance advantages in a configuration that is entirely recyclable.

As aquaculture grows into increasingly exposed areas, predator management continues to be a major priority. By maximising three crucial elements—tensile strength, cut resistance, and net rigidity—Garware’s predator-control nets are made to prevent sea lion assaults. Predator-related occurrences have significantly decreased as a result of this strategy.

“Within the predator-control product line, SUC MBX and X18 have seen strong success in Chile,” said Marcos Jofré, Business Associate at Garware Technical Fibres Chile. “SUC MBX, featuring stainless-steel strands in its core, is the most widely used product in the industry, while X18 has proven effective in drop-down configurations.”

Building on these ideas, Garware has released Safemax, an advancement of SUC MBX with a smaller diameter, better cut resistance, and increased adaptability for both conventional and vertical drop-down systems, and Pro Max, which provides increased rigidity and abrasion resistance. In order to minimise resistance to strong currents, ACE combines these characteristics with a smaller diameter for highly exposed areas.
