Skretting, a global leader in aquafeed, has appointed Maarten Bijl as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Bastiaan van Tilburg, who will step up as CEO of parent company Nutreco.
Bijl, who joined Nutreco in 2021 as Managing Director for Trouw Nutrition North America, most recently served as Chief Digital Officer and a Member of Nutreco’s Management Board. He oversaw a company-wide digital transformation over the past year, developing a digitally enabled business model to boost Trouw Nutrition’s and Skretting’s growth.
“I am greatly honoured to have the opportunity to lead and support the Skretting team,” Bijl said. “The Skretting brand stands out for its continuous innovation, its focus on people and partnerships, and its commitment to making the industry more sustainable. I look forward to working with our teams and customers around the world as we strive to be the number one nutritional solutions provider within aquaculture.”
Before joining Nutreco, Bijl held global leadership positions at TNT NV (now FedEx) and senior strategy and management positions in Europe and Asia for 12 years with parent firm SHV. He has an Executive MBA from Rotterdam School of Management and an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
Outgoing CEO Bastiaan van Tilburg praised the smooth leadership transition. “I am very thankful to the Skretting team for the progress we’ve made together and happy that we have strong, internal succession in place with Maarten,” he said. “The change in leadership does not reflect a change in strategy. Skretting customers and partners can expect continuity and the same spirit of dedication, service, and collaboration.”
With operations in 18 nations and an annual feed production of more than three million tons, Skretting is still able to offer high-quality, sustainable nutritional solutions for more than 60 aquaculture species globally. The company’s long-term strategy of promoting innovation, helping clients, and advancing sustainability in the global aquaculture sector is strengthened by this shift in leadership.
