Normex, the Norwegian aquaculture technology firm, has been granted a patent for its Razone water quality stabilisation system designed for recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). The patent recognises the novelty of Razone and marks an important step in Normex’s focus on land-based fish farming solutions.

Razone uses ozone-based treatment to keep RAS water clean and stable, helping producers manage biological risk and maintain consistent water quality — a critical factor for fish health and growth, particularly during intensive juvenile production phases.

According to CEO Stig Ove Johansen, the new patent strengthens the company’s position as a provider of advanced water treatment technology both in Norway and internationally, giving customers greater confidence in the system’s reliability and scalability for commercial RAS operations.

Razone works by eliminating microparticles, microorganisms and other contaminants through an ozone-based process, improving water clarity and control for fish farmers.
