World Aquaculture Safari’25 to be held in Uganda

The World Aquaculture Safari’25 conference will take place from 24 to 27 June, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Entebbe, Uganda. The event is set to be the largest aquaculture conference in Africa to date, bringing together global experts, stakeholders, and industry leaders.

The conference will focus on aquaculture development in Africa, with a particular emphasis on the growing aquaculture sector in East Africa, including the farming of tilapia and seaweed. The event is expected to attract participants from various sectors, including academia, government, technology providers, and farmers, as well as organizations such as the FAO, the World Bank, and the African Union.

The event will feature a range of activities, including papers, workshops, and side events, as well as a trade show showcasing aquaculture goods and services. A field day will also offer participants a chance to visit large fish farms on Lake Victoria.

The conference is being organized by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) in collaboration with Landell Mills, as part of the EU-funded TRUEFISH Project. The event aims to promote international collaboration in areas such as research, investment, and trade while highlighting Africa’s role in the global aquaculture industry.

Tourism opportunities in Uganda, including visits to wildlife reserves and trekking for gorillas and chimpanzees, will be available to international visitors before and after the conference. Registration for the event is now open, and the WAS is inviting sponsors to participate.
